Researche Focus
The group of researchers of low-temperature physics continues the work started in
the department of low-temperature physics of the Institute of Physics.
From the very first days of foundation (in 1961), the department of low-temperature physics
studied the quantum hydrodynamics of superfluid He II, physics of superfluid He II and superconductors,
low-temperature radiation physics, the technology of metal and semiconductor films and the problems of their technical application, and
finally, the low-temperature and radiation materials science and instrument making.
We have the equipment which makes possible to carry out researches in the
temperature interval from room temperature to ultralow temperature 0.3 K-400 K.
The researches are carried out in superconductivity: the traditional
superconductors of II-kind (superconducting alloys), high-temperature cuprate and iron-contained
superconductors, fullerene superconductors, as well as superconducting
materials are studied in normal state. The magnetic phases are studied both in
superconducting and normal states using the standard electron and magnetic resonance
methods, as well as the original mechanical and resonance methods developed in the Institute.
For studying the magnetic phases in normal state, in future, we will use a new
method of acoustic spectroscopy developed in our Institute in parallel with the methods used so far.
