Researche Direction
The Magnetic Systems Investigation Group started its activity in 2008 in frames of the
Condensed Matter Physics Department for study of the magnetoresonance properties (NMR,
EPR) of magnetic and superconducting materials. Along with it the studies of resonance
properties of biological systems have also been continued which were traditionally carried out in
the former Magnetic Phenomena Physics Department.
The magnetoresonance direction in the Andronikashvili Institute of Physics was founded
by two renowned Georgian specialists Academicians G. Khutsishvili and L. Buishvili. G. Khutsishvili’s
particularly known works are devoted to the development of nuclear polarization
methods, spin diffusión and pulsed EPR theories where he was one of their co-founders.
L. Buishvili developed the quantum-statistical theory of magnetic resonance using the
non-equilibrium statistical operator method and Krilov-Bogoliubov-Mitropolsky averaging principle
for magnetic resonance problems.
It should be particularly noted his works in NMR and acoustic NMR of magnetic
materials which were included in contemporary monographs in this scientific direction. He also
initiated the experimental NMR investigations in the condensed materials field and, in particular,
in magnetic materials which are currently being developed in the Magnetic Systems Investigation Group.
